The Night Shift season 4 finale preview: Is Jordan in danger?

Night Shift season 4 finale

With The Night Shift season 4 finale airing on NBC in one week’s time, it shouldn’t shock anyone that it’s going to be dramatic. The writers are telling a story about a terrible, unspeakable situation, and one that will in turn put the doctors into a tough spot trying to save as many different lives as humanly possible. The good news is that we’re going to see Luke Macfarlane make another appearance as Rick (we’ve got quite a few this season!), and that we’re actually also going to be seeing more of Amira in the San Antonio are for the season.

The bad news is clearly that these great appearances are coming at the cost of a pretty dangerous situation. The synopsis below offers you up a good sense of some of the various struggles with these characters, including some key decisions that certain characters will make.

The Night Shift season 4 finale synopsis – “A shooting at a nearby college sends TC (Eoin Macken), Jordan (Jill Flint), Drew (Brendan Fehr) and Amira (guest star Rana Roy) into the field, where they assist Rick (guest star Luke Macfarlane) with a deadly situation. Scott (Scott Wolf) implements a new training program and locks horns with Julian (guest star James McDaniel). Drew (Brendan Fehr) struggles with frustrations about going to Army Ranger School while Shannon (Tanaya Beatty) and TC both contemplate their future at San Antonio Memorial.”

If you missed it, we spoke with Robert Bailey Jr. (Paul) earlier this week where he told us that there are many huge moments coming in the finale; for both him and TC, one of the strongest scenes will be the two of them reflecting on their time together while also looking forward. Paul has always looked up to him as a hero, but he’s now in a place where other people can look up to him.

Judging from the preview for the finale (which aired following 4×09), it does seem as though one more member of the Night Shift family in Jordan could be in danger. Given how many people we’ve lost already this season, that’s certainly pretty terrible.

Could this be the series finale?

The Night Shift, really from the very first season, has very much remained a bubble series. We don’t see that changing at this point in the run. The ratings are down versus season 5, but we’re not entirely sure how anyone out there would have predicted anything otherwise. After all, this past season of the show aired with a far more substantial lead-in. We think that this season, all things considered, is really holding its own rather well — it’s had to tackle some challenges for sure, including the beast known as NFL preseason football.
