If Peter Kraus is out as The Bachelor, is Wells Adams the favorite?

Wells Adams

For almost the entire year, we’ve wondered if there was any way Peter Kraus wouldn’t be named The BachelorWell, we’re starting to get the sense that this odd scenario may be happening.

For the record, we’re still not sure if some of the tabloid stories out there are about this are anything other than a distraction and/or white noise. Remember that this is a franchise that does love to have the element of surprise. They had that with Nick Viall last year, and they did have at least the element of surprise in how they timed out Rachel Lindsay’s announcement before the end of her first season.

Maybe Peter doesn’t want to do it, or maybe ABC is genuinely peeved at how he may not want to propose on the show. Who knows?

The big story coming out at the moment is the movement towards Wells Adams, formerly of JoJo Fletcher’s The Bachelorette and last year’s Bachelor in Paradise (he is the bartender on Paradise this summer). Could he actually be the favorite to get the gig? We like the idea just because he’s one of the most “normal” guys we’ve seen be in contention. He’s not a complete muscle-head, and he’s got a vibe that seems super-amicable and even a little nerdy at times. As a fellow nerd, we appreciate that. We also love that there are people campaigning for him to get the job.

Also, Wells does seem fairly interested. Just look at what he told Entertainment Tonight on Friday about the subject:

“No one’s talked to me about it … It’s something I wouldn’t take lightly and I’d have to speak to my family about. I have a big family, four siblings, nieces and nephews. Your family has to be a part of that world. I’d want their blessing before I would consider it.”

That’s hardly a denial. We’ve already heard another possible contender in former Bachelor Ben Higgins say no to the gig, and beyond him, Wells, and Peter, is there really all that good of a contender out there? Remember that Dean Unglert has already said that he’s not ready for the responsibility of the job, and we don’t see Eric Bigger getting it based on memorability.
