Teen Wolf season 6 spoilers: Details on Tyler Posey directorial debut

Tyler Posey

For everyone who loves Teen Wolf and is excited about the upcoming final episodes, Tyler Posey directing one should up the ante. This is the first time that he’s taken on the role for the MTV series, and we figure he must have wanted to jump at the opportunity. It’s an exciting chance to stretch himself, and show that he’s got a lot of different skills that he can bring with him to other projects. It’s reminiscent in some ways of Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder doing it on The Vampire Diaries before that show came to a close.

Posey’s directorial debut is coming on the upcoming August 13 episode entitled “After Image,” which is going to be in part about a missing werewolf. Per SpoilerTV, Scott and the rest of the main cast (aside from who is missing) will pool their time and resources to figure out what happened. It’s possible that this person left as a result of something done by the villains of this season (which certainly seem rather human — save for a horrible spider-creature we’ve heard a thing or two about); or, it’s equally possible that they left on their own accord. We’re still shocked in some ways that these people have wanted to stay in Beacon Hills for however long that they have when there’s so much death around them.

Beyond all of this, Melissa and Argent is going to be working together on a difficult investigation … but there isn’t all that much more that we can say about that for now, mostly because the synopsis for the episode doesn’t offer up many details.

With Posey directing this episode, odds are that he won’t be in too many scenes, just because trying to direct yourself is a challenge — especially when your schedule is so crazy. Directing an episode requires a ton of work both in pre and post-production, which is why you only tend to see this sort of thing happen for an actor once or twice a season. It’s hard to fit in any more than that without turning into a puddle of exhaustion.

Beyond just the threats that are coming in season 6, there are a couple other things that we’ve learned for sure, through trailers and the like.

1. You’re going to get a chance to see a number of returning cast members, whether it be Colton Haynes, Dylan O’Brien, or Tyler Hoechlin. So many beloved people are getting a chance to take one final bow, and it’s much deserved.

2. The romantic pairing between Scott and Malia is going to be kind of a big deal in these final episodes — it’s going to come organically as a result of interactions, and we’re certainly excited to see just how much the writers can do with it in just ten episodes.
