Nashville season 5 episode 17 spoilers: Deacon and dating pressure

While the relationship between Deacon and Rayna on Nashville wasn’t perfect, it was real. On Nashville season 5 episode 17, someone may undermine it. That shouldn’t be altogether surprising, given that this is a show that it many ways likes to surround its main characters with a wide assortment of problems that are out of their control. For example, Maddie had to deal earlier this season with the ramifications of her arrest and the vast social-media implications of it. Meanwhile, we’ve also now had a story where Scarlett realized that certain journalists will do anything for the sake of getting a good story.

So where will all of these stories collide going into next week’s new episode airing on CMT? Let’s just say that we’ve got a few more teases on that, starting with the synopsis below.

Nashville season 5 episode 17 synopsis – “Scarlett confronts the journalist Mackenzie Rhodes face-to-face; Will shoots a big-time commercial; Deacon feels pressure from the outside to move on from Rayna.”

The Deacon story is the one that has the most emotional resonance to us just because this should be the sort of thing that everyone should have some semblance of control over. From a creative standpoint, we also do appreciate that the writers are finding some ways to bring Rayna back into the show’s orbit that feel organic, and aren’t exactly them trying to do whatever they can to throw the late character into the fray. This would come up in Deacon’s life, and our simple reasons is that emotionally, he shouldn’t be all that ready just yet.

The promo – If you look below, you can get just a small glimpse of what is coming, and that includes especially a lot of drama as Scarlett faces the after-effects of what happened with Mackenzie Rhodes. Things will get testy there, and beyond that, you’re going to continue to see more sides of Juliette and some of the other characters. Interestingly, though, this preview doesn’t offer up much in the way of teasers on either Will or Deacon, even though these two characters are the ones who were emphasized in that synopsis.
