Riverdale finale spoilers: First news on Archie, Veronica, more

Riverdale finale

Earlier today, it was first announced that the Riverdale finale is coming to The CW on Thursday, May 11, and in lieu of there being a new episode tonight, we figured we’d offer up a few more details regarding what is coming up.

The first thing to point out about this episode is rather simple — the title of “The Sweet Hereafter.” If that doesn’t sound very creepy and foreboding, we’re not entirely sure what will. The synopsis (via SpoilerTV) makes it very clear that Archie / Veronica could be a thing in the finale following everything that we’ve seen from them as of late. With that being said,

“Archie (KJ Apa) and Veronica (Camila Mendes) continue to grow closer. Betty (Lili Reinhart) is tired of her family acting as if nothing has happened and confronts her mother. Jughead (Cole Sprouse) finds himself in an unexpected situation, leaving Archie and the gang scrambling. Hermione (Marisol Nichols) makes Fred (Luke Perry) an offer that seems too good to be true. Meanwhile, the truth about Blossoms’ family business is revealed leaving Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) to take matters into her own hands.”

Are we going to see a cliffhanger at the end of the chaos? It definitely seems like that sort of thing is possible, given that this is a show that seems to exist on the basis of some sort of mystery. This helps to keep things exciting, and have you guessing a little bit more what sort of cliffhanger the writers could come up with. We’ve already got a few teasers here and there already that someone could be dying at the end of the season, so that is something to be watching out for. (If you haven’t heard, the show is coming back for a second season, so there isn’t anything to worry about when it comes to whether or not the show could come back. It’s mostly at the moment a question of how much the show wants to make you nervous in advance of the second season airing.
