The Flash – Supergirl musical crossover promo shows Barry Allen, Kara Danvers’ glam side
While it looked for a time as though the Flash – Supergirl musical crossover was going to air across two episodes, it’s starting to look more and more like this will be similar to what we had with the “four-part crossover” this past fall. You’ll get a small inkling of what is coming at the end of the March 20 episode of Supergirl, but the majority of the action will be saved for the March 21 episode of The Flash entitled “Duet.” At this point, you’ll get to see more of the reign of terror (or reign of song?) for the villain Music Meister, who is going to be played by Darren Criss. There’s a Glee reunion coming with him, Melissa Benoist, and Grant Gustin over the course of the event.
In addition to the music, what the first-look promo below reveals is that there’s also probably going to be an alternate-universe element to this as well. How else do you describe Kara going full glam lounge-singer? This isn’t something that she would do if she was of her own mind, and seeing if she can establish any sort of equilibrium once more is going to be one of the central themes of this story.
Beyond the presence of Gustin and Benoist, we know that the crossover is set to have a number of other notable names from CW – DC Comics universe. Who are musically inclined. Think about such people as Jesse L. Martin, Carlos Valdes, and John Barrowman. Since the show is going here, they clearly want to take advantage of it in every way that they possibly can.
Will this crossover matter much to the larger story?
Probably not, but this is probably not something that the show is really putting a lot of attention on. We feel like, at least for them, the bigger focus going into this episode is to simply create something that is exciting and fun. There will be plenty of time, after all, to do something that shines more of a light on some of the story of Savitar and everything else that is going on over at Supergirl. We revealed in the promo last night that Teri Hatcher’s character is potentially going to be one of the big villains as we move further into this season.
