The MacGyver – Hawaii Five-0 crossover promo is here!
This video may be short, but it gives you the sense of a few different things, whether it be the reasoning for Mac and Jack heading to the islands to seeing some of the collaborations that do happen there. Lucas Till and George Eads are going to share some screen time with Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park, and we also get in here a scene featuring Taylor Wily and Justin Hires. Let’s just say that one involves Bozer holding a dog.
Do we wonder just how much time the Five-0 actors are going to be present during the episode? Sure, if for no other reason than that these people are all busy and then some. Consider the idea that this cast does 25 episodes a season; that may be enough to leave some people fainting on the side of the road somewhere. The fact that they were about to get Kim, Park, and Wily at all is a pretty remarkable feat. (Remember, this is all taking place on MacGyver — it’s not a two-part crossover that is spanning both shows.)
We do hope that crossovers are something that the two shows consider on a grander scale moving forward, and this episode could be a good proof-of-concept in terms of whether or not the concept can work. If this draws big ratings like many of the Chicago crossovers do on NBC, there will no doubt be more — even if it’s not the easiest thing to work out when it comes to logistics. Remember that Till and the other cast members effectively had to travel all the way out from Atlanta to the islands in order to film scenes for this episode. That’s not exactly a quick trip that someone can make at the drop of a hat.
