Don’t expect Earth-1 Kara on Supergirl season 3, The Flash season 4

Supergirl -

Recently, we wrote about how The CW and the producers for its superhero universe are formulating a plan for a four-part crossover featuring all of their shows. Basically, Supergirl will be roped into The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow in a more substantial way than just a blink-and-you-may-miss-it moment at the end of its episode.

One thing that we do know is this: When the shows cross over, don’t expect it to be via some mechanism that gives you an Earth-1 Kara Danvers, or an Earth-38 version of Barry Allen. Speaking (per TVLine) on that subject, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg made it clear that “the problem with [this idea] is if [the writers] do that once, we’re going to open the floodgates of insanity.” To a certain extent, we get that. Given that there are already many Earth-2 versions of characters from this universe out there plus a version of Harrison Wells from Earth-19, throwing in a bunch of Earth-1 or Earth-38 variations of characters could start to become confusing.

Plus, calling it a “crossover” with an Earth-1 Kara rather than Supergirl is probably a rather cheap way to promote it. Who knows if Earth-1 Kara is actually on Planet Earth at all? She may still be on Krypton as far as we know within the show’s timelines.

The biggest thing that we’ve said a few times over that we’d like to see moving forward in the franchise is an Earth-2 version of Kara, mostly because in the comics, this character goes by the name of Power Girl and is infinitely awesome and a great variation on the character. Given that we don’t see plans for her across the DC Cinematic Universe, how about incorporating her here? She’s up there with Zatanna on the list of comic characters we want to appear the most on the shows.

There is still plenty of time before these crossovers air, especially given that it likely won’t happen until around November. Let us know what you want to see in the comments!
