Doctor Who season 11 gets worthy David Tennant stamp of approval

While Doctor Who season 11 will not premiere on BBC One until at some point in 2018 most likely, someone who certainly knows a thing or two about both being the Doctor and Chris Chibnall is giving us some further insight into why he is so great at the job.

Speaking in a new interview with Digital Spy, David Tennant offered up the following message of assurance as a means to further encourage everyone that this would, in fact, be a very worthy upcoming season of the show with Chibnall at the helm:

“I think it was an inevitability that the world would turn to Chris … It’s a big, massive, difficult job and it needs someone who is as enthusiastic and talented as Chris.”

In a separate interview on BBC Radio 2, we heard Tennant specifically comment that he doesn’t know anything more about the search for the Doctor than anyone else, joking that there is this tendency for the public to think that he has some sort of secret that unlocks all of the Doctor Who mysteries out there when that is not actually the case. He knows just as much, if not less, about the future than the average superfan.

Could a David Tennant – Doctor Who season 11 cameo happen? That would be amazing, but also incredibly unlikely unless Chibnall works some magic convincing him to come back. They’d have to work hard to find a good reason to get him to return, especially given that this is something David already did when he and Matt Smith teamed up for the 50th anniversary special.

Since being the Doctor, Tennant certainly has gone on to do some other things. He played Kilgrave on Jessica Jones, a.k.a. one of the best and most terrifying comic-book villains out there. Meanwhile, he has Broadchurch, and that is the primary reason why he is in the midst of doing such an extreme amount of press in the first place.
