‘The Blacklist’ season 4 spoilers: ‘Without a Trace’ alum books major role
The fourth season of “The Blacklist” is going to be wrapping up its winter run on Thursday night with “The Apothecary,” an installment that could resolve both a key Red mystery and then also pave the way for “The Blacklist: Redemption,” the big spin-off show that will be airing in the minutes that follow.
We’re going to have some further news soon when it comes to “Redemption,” but for now let’s take a minute or two to discuss a major piece of guest-casting that could strongly influence the story to come on “The Blacklist” itself. Per a report from Deadline, former “Without a Trace” actor Enrique Murciano is going to be coming aboard in the role of Julian Gale, a former colleague of Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) who receives a new assignment that potentially pushes him to his core and makes him question the determination and resolve that he’s had for the majority of his career. This feels as though it will be an exciting role, and it could be one that sticks around for the long-term depending on a few different variables.
For example, let’s look at the future of “Redemption.” With Ryan Eggold heading over to that show, there’s a chance that “The Blacklist” could be looking for a new regular if it’s a hit. If it’s not, there’s always a chance that Eggold could just bring Tom back to this show. (Given that the ratings for the flagship show are not exactly stupendous at present, we’re slightly concerned for its future, let alone the future of the spin-off.) The producers are effectively keeping their options open, and it makes sense that there would be a degree of fluidity to this world given that it is so dangerous.
Ultimately, we’ll see what Murciano brings to the show when he debuts on the show in the spring; after tomorrow’s episode, the series will not be back until April, where it will push forward hard with some of the final episodes of the season.

Not interested in the new casting because the old casts without Tom are more than enough and still unexplored, especially Reddington and Donald Ressler.

I too am more interested in the Red-Ressler dynamic. Tom’s absence could lead to better stories for the other cast members.
