‘MacGyver’ episode 16 preview: Let’s try to help Jack deflect
Friday night’s new episode of “MacGyver” is RIGHT around the corner, and for all of you vintage fans out there, there’s a lot of great stuff to be excited about given that the Colton Family’s coming! There were a part of several episodes of the original show, even if you didn’t always get to see all of them at once.
For the sake of this article, though, we’re going to touch on the question of the hour: Why in the world is Jack being so darn secretive about his past with Matty Webber? They went through something that he refers to as the “worst moment of his life,” and he refuses to tell Mac about it in the sneak peek below. Instead, when pressed about it, he injects himself into “Armageddon” and tries to pass that off as the story. In what may be the biggest chunk of personal insight that we’ve heard to date, Jack has apparently made his colleague watch just about every Bruce Willis movie three times.
Maybe Jack’s not ever going to reveal the truth — maybe this is like the Joker who tells Batman constantly different stories about how he got all of his scars. Either way, what we’ve got for you below are a handy list of future stories that Jack can tell if he wants to deflect about what happened with Matty. We’re not sure that any of them will work, but if Jack’s in need of some stories in a pinch, we’re happy to help.
-The two of them went through a traumatic experience trying to save Jack’s then-estranged wife at a Christmas party. Matty thought he went too rogue, and didn’t want anything to do with him.
-Jack attempted to use DNA in order to recreate the perfect being as a means to save the Earth but failed miserably. Matty relented, believing that this is just something that Jack was doing to try and get a future girlfriend.
-Someone tried to convince Jack to go back in time in order to stop a deadly virus, but Matty wouldn’t let him go. It turned into an explosive argument and Jack still resents her for it. (If she doesn’t let MacGyver improvise, odds are she’s not so keen on believing in time-travel.)
-The two had to work on a case with babies who inexplicably spoke as though they were normal adults. It was terrible. The voices were so terrifying that they’ve tried to block it out of their minds ever since.
-Jack spent a solid month trying to use an asset in order to break a whole case open, but it later turned out that this asset had been dead the whole time and Matty didn’t believe any of the information that he’d received was legitimate.
Okay, so odds are that Jack will open up about this eventually — but if he ever needs some help coming up with some more fake stories, we’re happy to help!
