‘Gotham’ season 3, episode 15 preview: The Riddler’s got a costume!

Gotham -It doesn’t take a whole lot of work to tell you the bad news when it comes to “Gotham“: There is not going to be a new episode on the air until close to the end of April. Specifically, think in terms of Monday, April 24. That’s a long period of time to wait, but the show certainly looks to be making it worthwhile courtesy of the promo below for “How the Riddler Got His Name.”

In this video, the biggest thing that you can see right away is in the thumbnail — Edward Nygma is going to be far closer to the character many people in the Batman universe know him to be. After going through what he has as Oswald’s Chief of Staff and disposing of him (at least for the time being), he’s now getting set to sport the green suit and trademark hat. Question marks aplenty will arise almost like this is one of the Arkham video games that are out there, and we figure that everyone in the city will be challenged by him to a certain extent.

After watching this preview, the question that you do have to wonder is this: Will Nygma be thought of as the Big Bad for the remainder of the season, or is it the super-mysterious Court of Owls who will hold that title? Could we end up seeing someone else pop up from the past? We do know that both Hugo Strange and Fish Mooney are still out there, so you can’t quite count them out just yet. You also still have Jerome alive, though it seems unlikely that you will get to see more of him given that Cameron Monaghan’s a busy guy who is also a regular over on “Shameless.”

One of the biggest riddles that we have ourselves about the rest of the story coming up is precisely when we’re going to get a chance to see all of it air. After all, you do have to remember / consider for a moment here that “Gotham” will have a good eight episodes to go by the time it returns, which could mean in theory that it’s going to air well beyond the end of May sweeps. Personally, we’re not that upset about this given that it’s nice to have some quality entertainment during the summer, but it remains to be seen if there is any widespread impact when it comes to the ratings.
