‘This Is Us’ episode 12 preview: ‘The Big Day,’ the triplets, and the aftermath

Jack -Throughout the run of “This Is Us,” we’ve gotten a chance to see some various major events. There have been holidays, heartbreak, joy, and surprise. There was certainly emotion throughout tonight’s new episode.

So where are we going next? After tonight’s new episode aired at a special time in 10:00 p.m. Eastern, we’re now transitioning into “The Big Day” next week, which should prove itself to be a rather wonderful chance to tell a story that is effectively all about celebrations, recovering from loss, and a heck of a whole lot more. We’re also going to be seeing the return of some characters we haven’t seen in a while — the fact that this show has developed such a deep bench over the course of the past few weeks is a little bit more of a testament as to precisely everything that this show has going on.

Synopsis – “As the birth date of her triplets quickly approaches, a frazzled and emotional Rebecca forgets Jack’s birthday. Dr. K struggles with the loss of his wife and wonders how he’ll be able to continue on with his life without her. Joe – the firefighter who delivered baby Randall to the hospital – fights to save his marriage.”

For everyone who loves this show and what it brings to the table, odds are that you’re going to love this episode as well — it’ll be sentimental based on this, but odds are it also makes you smile wide. There are no other shows on TV that manage to consistently pull off what this one does.

Promo – The big appeal of this episode seems to be for the most part that it gives you a chance to see a very different take on the arrival of the triplets, what happens when one is lost, and how Jack and Rebecca find a way to ensure that they fulfill that destiny. It feels like this episode is just as much about the heroes who helped make the birth happen as it is the parents, and we’re fine with that given that this is a show about humanity, and the individual moments that change everything. Part of this episode could be unorthodox, but we still see it beautifully channeling the show’s themes of love, loss, and prosperity.
