Prepare for ‘Outlander’ season 3 (or support Caitriona Balfe’s Golden Globe effort) with marathon

Outlander -

Are you a diehard “Outlander” fan looking for a way to celebrate the show, or are you someone who feels behind on the second season last year and are still looking for ways to catch up? No matter how you answer this question, we believe that we have a resource for you today to help you prepare for the future: A new marathon that is airing on Sunday that will feature the entirety of the second season!

The marathon is going to begin on Starz Sunday, January 8 at 9:20 a.m. Eastern time with the premiere episode “Through a Glass, Darkly,” and it will continue until the airing of the finale “Dragonfly in Amber” at 9:00 p.m. Eastern. While there are many viewers out there who have likely have exposure to these episodes through the app or other means, that’s not true for everyone. Watching the show live this weekend is a great way to show further support for it in the form of ratings, or to support series star Caitriona Balfe, who is up for a Golden Globe this weekend and has a reasonably good shot at taking it home! (You can read our full analysis on her category over at the link here.)

Balfe, along with the rest of the cast and crew for the show, have been working hard for some time on the upcoming third season, which will premiere at some point later this spring. Given the nature of the book Voyager on which it is based, there is a good chance that this could be the most epic season of the show to date. Just based on some of the work and the location shooting that it is happening everywhere from Scotland to South Africa, it certainly is one of the most exciting productions. Everyone’s going to be making the most of their frequent-flier miles.

Do we wish both “Outlander” and Balfe’s co-star Sam Heughan were also nominated for a Golden Globe? Absolutely, but here’s to hoping that next year turns that around and we see an “Outlander” sweep!
