‘The Voice’ finale: Sundance Head performs ‘Darlin’ Don’t Go’ original song; see music video
On tonight’s finale for “The Voice,” we’re going to see the final four artists take on many different tasks. They’re going to be doing duets, a new cover that they haven’t performed on the show so far, and perhaps most importantly, an original song. These are integral in determining commercial viability, and we know that for many, they may be one of the primary factors in determining who the winner should be — yes, we do firmly believe that there are still some undecided people out there.
For Sundance Head, one thing that we can say is that he’s got a song that he’s already very familiar with in “Darlin’ Don’t Go” — he’s performed it a number of times in the past! He wrote this song himself, and that makes him the only one of the final four to have a solo writing credit on an original song for the finale.
What we know about this song is that it’s a soulful, powerful country ballad that’s a little bit different than standard genre fare, but that’s one of the reasons why Sundance stands out. He performs music that is true to himself, and we definitely see this being the sort of heartfelt hit that gets people stirred up emotionally to the point where they’ll go out and buy this in droves from iTunes.
In regards to the performance on “The Voice,” we’ll have more on that shortly.
Performance – This is a song that brought a lot to the table in terms of emotion, but also presence. Sundance is not the first guy you’ll probably think of when someone says the word “superstar,” if the shoe fits sometimes, you just go with it! He commands the room, and for a country artist he’s got some incredible range.
Music video – This is precisely what you would want from Sundance — it’s simple, but at the same time beautiful and perfectly heartfelt. If they tried to do a whole lot more with it other than focus on Sundance, it’d be too much. As it is, we probably don’t need some of the drifting shots — it’s all about him, and the passion that he lets through his voice.
