‘The Voice’ finale: We McDonald performs ‘Wishes’ original song; see music video

In addition to all of the other performances that are going on with “The Voice” tonight, there’s also an opportunity to check out some original songs featuring all of the remaining four artists. We’re going to have separate articles coming out throughout the night on these, so be sure to check back and refresh the page often!

Here, we’re discussing We McDonald and a song entitled “Wishes,” one that she hopes is going to be enough to be able to get her the title come Tuesday night. Will it be enough? It’s ultimately rather hard to say, but we do know that these songs often do end up being a main determining factor in who ends up winning; if this one terms out to be great, it could be what ends up helping We secure the win.

Performance – The thing that we admire the most about this performance is the confidence that We uses when she sings from her lower register. That is such a difficult place to sing from, especially when you are so young and think that you have to sound like everyone else. We hope that some of We’s audience really listens to the lyrics here and feels inspired by them. We do think that her voice sounded really nice on the track, though we do wonder if it’ll be overshadowed by some of the other stuff she has planned on the night.

Music video – The one thing that we wished was that the vibe and the tempo of the song matched the video itself a little more clearly, given there is so much energy and enthusiasm there for what is effectively a slower — but powerful ballad. It speaks to her journey and her past, but also showcases the power of her voice.
