‘Dancing with the Stars 23’: Emma Slater returning, Jenna Johnson promoted; Lindsay Arnold partner tease

For this particular “Dancing with the Stars” update, we’re talking pros, but in the process we do also have a new teaser regarding someone’s potential celebrity partner for the new season as well…

First things first, let’s talk a big return! Joining Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Derek Hough as a returning pro this year is Emma Slater, who was off for the spring but has been a part of the show for several seasons now. Hayes Grier to us is probably her most notable partner, but she did work wonders with Bill Engvall.

Meanwhile, troupe member and “So You Think You Can Dance” alum Jenna Johnson is also going to be a pro for the first time this season! That’s an exciting prospect, given that we know her talent and what she is capable of doing. The Fox dance competition has been an excellent farm system of sorts for talent for this show, given that the likes of Allison Holker, Lindsay Arnold, Witney Carson, and Chelsie Hightower all came to this show after taking part in that one.

Finally, the last bit of news is a teaser as to who Lindsay will be performing with — it’s a football player! Given that ABC claims they’re a “real catch,” we of course wonder if it is a former NFL wide receiver. Terrell Owens would be a good guess given that he had an enormous personality during his career … but that’s just a guess. We could be reading too much into the word “catch.”
