‘The Flash’ season 3 premiere: What should happen

FlashSeason 3 of “The Flash” may be still a month and a half away, but let’s be honest here: Everyone is still in the process of talking about it. When you set up something like Flashpoint, you obviously have to be aware that you are going to be a hot subject of conversation. The entire world could be different for Barry Allen, and while this won’t be a permanent change to the show, its aftereffects could still prove to have an important role.

So what do we want to see happen? That’s what we want to try and pin down in this latest chapter of our month-long What Should Happen article series.

Where we left off – Flashpoint began as a result of Barry Allen stopping Zoom, realizing that the Man in the Iron Mask was Earth-3 Jay Garrick, and that this man happened to look just like his own late father Henry Allen, who was killed by Zoom. All of this compelled him to go back in time and save his mother’s life, which could cause an enormous ripple effect with his own history, let alone the histories of many others.

What should happen – Have a little bit of fun within the Flashpoint universe. We know already that Cisco is going to be some sort of billionaire, Iris won’t really know Barry, and the Reverse-Flash will still be around. Obviously there will be an important story here given that Barry does need to eventually realize that this is not an authentic world, but we don’t want to see the series necessarily rush things along. They should take their time and be fairly methodical in their approach for a few episodes, giving us a chance to really see some of the new versions of these characters.

As for the premiere episode itself, don’t wrap up Flashpoint, but establish that there is a reason for Barry to try to get out of. Also, try to come up with an interesting way to introduce Tom Felton, the actor we’re most excited to see but also the one shrouded in the most mystery. We have to imagine that he was cast in a major role for a reason.
