‘The Flash’ season 3 spoilers: ‘Friday Night Lights’ actor cast as Mirror Master!

We’ve waited for a good two years to see Mirror Master on “The Flash,” and with that we’re very much pleased to learn that he is coming up in the third season.

According to Comic Book Resources, Grey Damon of “Friday Night Lights” fame has been cast as the original incarnation of the famed villain on the upcoming third season, one who is well-known in the comics for working alongside Captain cold and others. Here is the official character description:

“One of the Flash’s most infamous Rogues, Sam Scudder – aka Mirror Master – is a smooth criminal with a huge ego. Upon discovering he now has the power to travel through any reflective surface, Scudder embarks on a massive crime spree to prove himself the greatest thief that Central City has ever seen.”

Given that his powers are somewhat abstract as opposed to many other villains, we wonder if coming up with the right angle for Mirror Master is one of the ways in which this show was forced to take their time with this casting. You have to establish a story that makes sense; on paper, he does make for a clear challenge to Barry Allen just because even with super-speed, there are only so many different places you can travel.

For now, it doesn’t sound like Mirror Master is going to be the Big Bad for the season, given the producers have already assigned that to two different people this time in Doctor Alchemy and a currently-unknown speedster. Could it be Black Flash, who we saw briefly at the end of last season via Zoom’s destruction? Time will tell.
