‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Brie Larson, Kenan Thompson chat about cheese

There’s a new episode of “Saturday Night Live” coming on NBC this weekend, and with it comes a host we are really excited to see in Brie Larson. She is coming off of her Oscar-winning turn in “Room,” and getting to show people that she can definitely do comedy. (Longtime fans of hers already know this.)

To us, the funniest moment of the promo below is when she introduces herself as a 2016 Academy Award winner, while Kenan Thompson then introduces himself as a Kids’ Choice Award winner from the nineties. We’re just thrilled to see some more Nickelodeon references on the show! For a while it felt like Kenan was trying to distance himself somewhat from his past, and we’re happy he is not really doing that so much anymore.

Overall, we’d say that the closing bit about there being no cheese in the sushi restaurant also is good as far as an “SNL” promo gag goes, mostly because it starts off with you thinking it is going to be a one-note gag about how Brie, given her first name, must automatically love cheese. It’s nice to see that it morphs into something else by the time we roll around to the very end of it.

We anticipate getting at least one more promo for this episode before we get around to the show airing this weekend, so be sure to come back for that on either Thursday or Friday! Also, we’ll of course have our full review up on Saturday as the show airs.
