‘Billions’ finale spoilers: Is Axe going on the run?

While fans of “Shameless” tonight had their own crazy finale, you’ve had to wait a little while longer to see the end of “Billions.” Luckily, that is going to be coming your way on Showtime Sunday night! We’ve seen Chuck Rhoades and Bobby Axelrod go toe-to-toe in just about every form possible … but what happens when Axe busts out something known as a contingency plan? This is apparently something that we are going to get a chance to see in action on next week’s all-new episode … and we anticipate some rather surprising results to go along with it.

Before we do anything else, let’s give you what has to be one of the shortest episode synopses of all time. Yet, it probably does set up the finale in a way that is very appropriate:

“Chuck goes in search of Axe and an explosive confrontation.”

If Axe does opt to try to escape New York and take advantage of what are roughly his “unlimited resources,” that could set up a very different sort of dynamic for season 2, one where it feels almost more like a chase than a game of cat-and-mouse. Then again, we’re just hypothesizing in general about what Axe could do here, since one of his biggest strengths / weaknesses is his ego. This is a man that does almost everything he wants, and really doesn’t believe that there are any harsh consequences for his actions. We’ll just have to see what happens next in seven days’ time.
