‘The Walking Dead’ season 6 spoilers: Steven Yeun on Negan’s impending arrival

Glenn -

It may sound at least a little bit strange on paper to have Steven Yeun be excited about the arrival of Negan to “The Walking Dead,” or at least we assume many people who read the comics that the show is based on would feel that way.  He is one of the most feared villains within the universe, and there are quite a few interesting developments that could come from seeing him in action here. Of course (comic book spoiler alert!), one of these said developments is that he kills Glenn.

Yet, we circle back now to the following comment that Yeun made recently on the subject to Entertainment Weekly:

“For me, his arrival is awesome … We’ve been waiting for this person for a long time, and in the comic books, he in a way brings a level of stakes that are kind of unmatched. And so, for me, for Negan to come into the show is, to say nothing less, f—ing awesome.”

Yeun also made it clear in the interview that it is wrong for anyone to assume that Glenn for sure dies on the show just because he does meet a pretty terrible fate in the source material:

“I know people are going to always go, ‘Negan kills Glenn in the comics,’ but rest assured that we don’t necessarily do what’s in the comics … There’s a clear divide in the way we tell a story on television, and the way that story is told in the comics, because it has to be. And everybody will have to see what happens, but we definitely tell our story in the way that television should be told.”
