‘Supergirl’ episode 16 preview: Has Kara turned to the dark side?
Is Supergirl officially becoming Super-evil? It may start to feel that way if you simply saw a photo of Kara wearing a particularly evil ensemble like you do above. However, it turns out that this photo (which comes from the March 14 episode of “Supergirl“) is far more complicated than that.
The synopsis below, if you haven’t seen it already, makes it clear that it is the exposure of Red Kryptonite that turns her at least temporarily into a villain:
“Kara turns on her friends and the citizens of National City after being exposed to Red Kryptonite makes her malicious and dangerous. Also, Cat appears on THE TALK to discuss Supergirl.”
As for why the whole thing with “The Talk” is happening, it seems to be frustratingly born out of product placement. We’re not nearly as upset about the “Scorpion” – “The Price is Right” synergy that is happening tonight, but that makes a little bit more sense to us since it has been clear that the show has been set in our world. With “The Talk” and Cat Grant, it feels a little more unnatural, especially since we now have to assume that the Sharon Osbourne – Sara Gilbert daytime talk show is in the same universe as Oliver Queen, and therefore he could someday be a guest. That’s a little difficult for us to process. (We’re already compiling in our head a list of potential interview subjects for them out of this extended DC -TV universe. Maybe we’ve already spent too long talking about this.)

“we now have to assume that the Sharon Osbourne – Sara Gilbert daytime talk show is in the same universe as Oliver Queen”
— Same multiverse, not same universe. You have to go through a breach to get from the Flash-and-Arrow-verse to Supergirl’s universe. Or so I assume from the recent scene in “Flash” where Supergirl was one of the alternate-universe visions glimpsed during breach travel.
