‘Doctor Who’ season 9, episode 12 (finale) spoilers: Can the Doctor face himself?

Doctor WhoThe season 9 finale of “Doctor Who” is going to be airing on the BBC Saturday in the majority of the world, and based on both the title (“Hell Bent”) and the teaser below via star Peter Capaldi, one thing remains clear: Get ready for chaos and plenty on it.

Peter Capaldi presents for you below, the introduction to this episode, which he promises will certainly fulfill the title of “finale” in so many ways. For one, you’ve got the return of The Doctor to Gallifrey, and anytime the character returns home you automatically have to wonder just what that means. Also, there is the notion of facing the hybrid, of facing himself. How much of him is the hybrid? Is it his mind and body, something less, or something more? How does Ashildr factor into all of this? We know that Maisie Williams will be appearing once more, but for the time being that is all we know. (Williams does have to love the fantastic arc she’s been given this season, since it has allowed her to do so many wonderful things.)

There will be a Christmas Special still after this featuring the return of River Song, so rest assured that you will have one more great thing to look forward to even beyond this. While it is possible that there will be some sort of hint to that story into this episode, it is far from confirmed. We’ll have further news not long after the story wraps.
