‘Supergirl’ spoilers: ‘Chasing Life’ star Italia Ricci set as Silver Banshee

Supergirl -Supergirl” is bringing another unique female villain onto the show later this season, and this is someone who fans of “Chasing Life” should be happy to see on TV once again.

As first reported by “Entertainment Tonight,” Italia Ricci is going to be appearing on the 14th episode of the show as Siobhan Smythe, a new hire of Cat Grant’s who ends up causing trouble for Kara Danvers at work. What makes this even more interesting is that somewhere along the way, she will either become or reveal herself as the villain Silver Banshee. She’s known not just for speed and strength, but the ability to speak an array of languages and damage others using her sonic skills … hence the name Banshee.

In a statement, show executive producer Andrew Kreisberg had the following to say:

“We are so excited to be working with Italia. We’ve been a fan of her work for years and we cannot wait to see her take on this iconic comic book role.”

There are any many interesting connections here with both Ricci and this role. For one, Italia’s fiance Robbie Amell played Ronnie Raymond / one half of Firestorm on “The Flash” until the character died during the season 2 premiere, and Kreisberg recently admitted that he and the other writers have at least wondered about crossing over this show and “Supergirl” at some point.

Here’s a connection that’s even stranger. The last name Smythe is rather unusual, and the only other one we can think of right now within the world of TV is Sebastian Smythe, a character on “Glee” played by none other than … “The Flash” star Grant Gustin! That’s just random, since Smythe existed in the DC Comics world long before this show.
