‘The X Factor’ UK results: Were 4th Impact, Che Chesterman, or Lauren Murray eliminated?

X Factor -The good news for any “X Factor” contestant at this stage of the game is that they have made it far enough into the competition that they could be signed by anyone. It really comes down at this point to whether or not anyone wants to bring them on board more so than anything else.

The bad news? Someone is still going home before the top 4, which is in turn so close to the finale. That’s a terrible place to be sent home, since you start to question and second-guess almost everything you did since just one different move could have turned things around entirely for you. Let’s just hope that nobody is particularly hard on themselves in this respect.

Well, here’s the funny thing: Sometimes, you get more support when you mess up. This is why we think that Che Chesterman got the bump to stick around for another week, and why we ended up with a showdown of 4th Impact versus Lauren Murray. We don’t think either one of them deserves to go home per se, and we presume that this also answers the question of whether or not the overwhelming support for the girl group on this site is coming from readers outside of Britain who are not able to vote. As for Lauren, this is proof that iTunes sales really don’t matter as opposed to votes.

Now, let’s get to the sing-off.

4th Impact, “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” – Killer vocals. They’re probably the best singers left in the competition. The downside is that we loathe this song. It’s been done on every single singing show known to mankind and we just can’t emotionally connect to it. In general, groups have a harder time with this since there are so many people you have to get to know.

Lauren Murray, “Treated Me Kind” – Hey, it’s a Mariah Carey song that hasn’t become singing-show overkill. Lauren made this really tough. We think that 4th Impact are better, more consistent singers and will be huge in Asia after this season; however, Lauren has done well on iTunes and is probably the more commercial star in the UK.

Results – 4th Impact is gone. Well, so much for ranking them #1! No regrets on that, given that if this show was a global competition they’ll probably still be there. They actually got more of a chance than we imagined that they would in this position, since Simon Cowell sent the vote to deadlock.
