‘American Horror Story: Hotel’: Sarah Paulson on the struggle of two shows

AHSWe don’t want to overlook the fact that there are many actors working in TV right now who are incredibly busy. With that being said, we have a hard time imagining that there are many out there who ultimately have more going on than Sarah Paulson. Not only is she a cast member on “American Horror Story: Hotel,” but she also has to go along with that the role of Marcia Clark on “American Crime Story: The People v. OJ Simpson.” That’s a lot of shows with “American” in the title!

When we first heard that Paulson was playing Clark, we actually thought there was no way she’d be able to return back to the other Ryan Murphy production. While we’re not seeing a lot of her Sally on that show, suffice it to say that her performance is far from over.

As for what it was like pulling this double-duty for Paulson, she makes it very clear to the Daily Beast that this is a big struggle, but one that she also embraced:

“It was hard. Hard. It was harder doing that, really, than it was doing the conjoined twins. With the conjoined twins, even though there was a similar sort of schizophrenic reality, they shared a body. They were twins. They were sisters. They were the same, in a way. Marcia and Sally couldn’t look more different. The one thing they have in common is that Marcia is also a kind of animal-instinct person, but with much more compassion for other people than Sally has.

“So it was hard—it was particularly hard timewise. I would be working until 1 in the morning on American Horror Story and then I’d have to be at Crime Story at 8 a.m. The good news is that both b–ches look real tired. They painted dark circles under my eyes for Marcia, and it was good that I already had some to give them as an outline. ‘Just put those circles where mine already are.’ And Sally had so much makeup on you couldn’t see them anyway.”

We know that Paulson can rock out in “Horror Story,” but we’re very excited to see how she tackles the other role. Unfortunately, it will not premiere until early next year.
