‘Arrow’ season 4: Stephen Amell on (not) sporting goatee, rage if Felicity dies

Oliver -

Over the past few years of “Arrow,” we have seen the show evolve from something more in the Christopher Nolan mold of comic-book adaptations to something more in line with the DC universe, complete with superpowers and a little bit of humor. With that, we’ve seen the Arrow become the Green Arrow, and Oliver Queen sporting a costume that is a little more reminiscent of some of the best outfits from the comics.

So what about the goatee? While it has been said that it would not happen on the show, things do change, right? Well, we can still tell you that for the time being, it’s not happening. While at the Heroes & Villains Fan Fest this weekend, Stephen Amell said the following on the subject (per ComicBook.com):

“There are no plans for the goatee to happen on Arrow … I love to grow them. Once we’re done with the island flashbacks. I tell you what. Once we’re done with the island flashbacks if I’m not working over hiatus, I’ll grow a horrible goatee. And I mean really, really bad.”

So there you have it, folks: There is still hope for a rare form of hiatus beard!

Amell also promised “unbridled rage” alongside confusion, desperation, and “complete and utter sadness” if Felicity ever dies on this show. While it has not been addressed recently, season 4 does have that specter (not the James Bond one) hanging over it in the flash-forward at the start of the season, where Barry and Oliver are standing in front of a grave.
