‘Madam Secretary’ season 2, episode 5 preview: How Elizabeth, President Dalton handle death

The second season of “Madam Secretary” has dived deep into Russian politics over the course of the past several weeks, and that hit a new high come Sunday night’s installment. This set up a pretty interesting installment in next week’s “The Long Shot,” one that features Elizabeth and President Dalton trying to do whatever they can in order to ensure that the country does not fall to pieces after the death of President Ostrov. There is only so much that they can do in this situation, which is precisely why it is so terrifying. (Also, this is why the episode probably carries the title that it does.)

“In the wake of President Ostrov’s death, Elizabeth and President Dalton fear a power grab within the Russian government. Also, the government’s Cybersecurity Coordinator Oliver Shaw (Kobi Libii) works to identify the hacker who interfered with the communication system on Air Force One, and Jay devises a plan to fight Russian propaganda.”

There are clearly quite a few things that are going on here, which means that Elizabeth will have her hands full. There will be a public battle, a private one, and also some that could destroy the balance of power completely.
