NBC’s ‘The Voice’ preview: Evan McKeel, Riley Biederer perform for Team Pharrell

Monday night’s new episode of “The Voice” is almost here, and that means perhaps one thing more than anything else: Another fierce battle! The one that we’ve got in the video below comes courtesy of Team Pharrell Williams, and it puts very two talented artists in Evan McKeen and Riley Biederer in the spotlight. The two are performing a very retro song, but they find a way to extract some of the soul and funk out of that while transporting you right to present day. Not an easy thing to master.

So who is the better of the two? As of right now, we’d probably give the edge to a certain extent to Evan, given the fact that he hits some really good notes and also has a command of the stage at the same time. There’s something very enthralling about the way he performs, and how he transforms some of his style into every song.

The good thing for either him or Riley, though, is that this is a show where there are almost always second chances. Even if one of them is eliminated here, it’s still certainly possible that someone will come in for a steal at some point before the end of the segment. The addition of this is one of the reasons why the Battle Rounds have become in some ways tolerable. This still does, though, remain our least-favorite part of the competition, mostly because there are so few performances over the course of two hours. It needs something more!
