‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 7 poster puts Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley in the spotlight

tvd -The season 7 premiere of “The Vampire Diaries” is coming on Thursday, October 8, and The CW is not waiting any longer to lift the veil on the first poster for the show! You can see it below, and we have to say that for the most part, we really like this.

One of the things that we are the most critical about when it comes to The CW is that many of their promotional posters and photos that they put out are recycled versions of things that we have seen in other seasons and shows. This new artwork, however, feels completely fresh and original, and it is a very smart move to put the Salvatore brothers front and center here with the simply tagline of “heartbreak is eternal.” That is very much a reflection of what Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is going through now with Elena (Nina Dobrev) more or less paralyzed until the end of Bonnie’s life. We do think it’s possible that we will see Elena again on the series, but it is not going to be for a long time.

Given that Stefan (Paul Wesley) still has a chance to make things work with Caroline (Candice King), we’re not sure that heartbreak really applies to him. Still, this is a brooding, extremely effective poster that reminds us that this is really the story of Damon and Stefan. This show is now about two brothers in extraordinary circumstances, trying to figure out how to find themselves and keep terrible things from happening. Basically, there are more comparisons to “Supernatural” than in the past.

Given that we still have some time until the premiere, there’s going to be more scoop on the show coming up and we will be there every step of the way!
