‘Supergirl’ trailer: CBS shows off new footage during ‘Scorpion’ premiere

For those of you who have been eagerly anticipating seeing some more footage of “Supergirl,” we come bearing great news: A trailer for the upcoming season that actually contains some new footage! That is not something that we’ve had a whole lot of over the past couple of months, mostly because there was not really much in the way of footage available for anything other than the pilot.

What this new trailer does well first and foremost is show off some of Kara Zor-El’s abilities, including some that have not been featured on the show so far. We do still wonder a little bit how the show does plan to create tension around this character, if for no other reason than that she is someone who is virtually unstoppable other than some key weaknesses. How do you keep her from being too powerful?

Without focusing too much of that concern, the trailer ends with a nice moment of humor that reminds us that this show is going to embrace being a hero in the same way that “The Flash” does; in other words, it doesn’t always have to be dark and serious! This is something that we really wish that some of the other shows and movies out there really understood, since it feels like everything is trying to be all super-dark and gritty. This is in part what will help make “Supergirl” stand out.

The series is going to premiere come Monday, October 26 at 8:30 p.m. Eastern time, and of course we’re going to have more scoop soon!
