‘The Walking Dead’ season 6 spoilers: ’24’ vet on board (but not as Negan)

twdDid we all start to speculate too soon about “The Walking Dead” casting the role of Negan? We are not going to say that, but we can at least say that the character hinted at in some recent casting notices to be the famed comic villain is not going to be him.

According to a report from TVLine, “24” alum Xander Berkeley is set to recur in a role that is still being kept under wraps. What we do know is that he is narcissistic, confident, and out mostly for himself. He is still charismatic enough, though, to get a variety of other people on his side.

Could this man be the leader of the Wolves? That is something that we are at least considering at the moment; he could be a comic character, but maybe the show is looking to establish more of an original presence this season, as well.

Make no mistake that we do believe Negan is still going to come aboard the show at some point. It’s really just a question of when, and whether or not the writers want to make this guy into the same person he was in the comics. He is far too notable (and far too ruthless) a character to be completely forgotten.

The new season of the show is going to premiere on October 11, and based on the timing of this announcement, we feel like Berkeley is probably not turning up until either the end of the fall season, or more than likely some point in the winter / spring.
