‘Arrow’ season 4 spoilers: Check out John Diggle’s new helmet!

Diggle

For weeks now, “Arrow” has been saying that the time has come to give John Diggle a costume-of-sorts. It’s not an issue of trying to make the character more like someone in the comics; instead, it is just a way to protect him in two different forms. For one, this gives him more armor while he is out in the field, which is a darn good thing given that he has both a wife and a daughter that he needs to protect. Also, it conceals part of his identity. Also important for the same thing.

So while we don’t quite know yet what Diggle’s code-name is going to be, we can at least give you a first-look photo of him suited up! The image above shows a more fashionable jacket for David Ramsey’s character, and then also a helmet that is one part Shredder from “Ninja Turtles,” and also one part Magneto from “X-Men.”

We actually think that visually, it looks pretty cool and will really shine during combat seasons. However, that thing has to be a pain in the you-know-what to wear, and is it really that functional? It doesn’t seem like you’d have a lot of peripheral vision in it which is bad for his use of guns and hand to hand combat, and it looks pretty uncomfortable especially around your mouth. Let’s hope that Diggle never tries to eat something like a foot-long sub while wearing this thing.

What is probably worsening the big reveal here more than anything is the feeling that the show used the same background here that they used previously for unveiling Oliver Queen’s new costume. We wish Diggle had something behind him that was a little more industrial, since it would make this photo stand out more as something completely his own.
