‘Mistresses’ season 3 finale spoilers: Joss’ celebration is ultimately short-lived

For a few fleeting moments on Thursday night’s season finale of “Mistresses” on ABC, it is going to feel almost as though Joss has something to be happy about. She is finally free from prison, which in turn means that she does not have to spend her nights miserable in a cell, wondering what her life with Harry could be like on the outside.

However, as the sneak peek below indicates, nothing can remain too stable in this world. While Joss is thrilled to be out, she still has to question Calista’s motives since almost nothing the woman does is altogether simple. Not only that, but Karen is in the midst of a pretty terrible quagmire, all courtesy of the fact that Vivian is dying, Alec has more or less banned her from the hospital, and there really is not too much that she can do about the issue for the time being other than try to be there, even if not everyone wants her to be.

Is there going to be a shocking end to one of these stories? It is possible, mostly because this is the sort of dramatic show that we’re dealing with here. It is not one to end things in a neat little bow, and will probably settle more for some epic cliffhanger that leaves jaws on the ground and fans clamoring for a fourth season.

Unfortunately, it could be weeks before ABC wants to figure out what they want to do there. For now, it’s better to just enjoy the finale and wait to see what happens a little bit further down the road.
