‘MasterChef’ season 6, episode 18 preview: Looking at the final four
We are only weeks away now from the end of “MasterChef“; specifically, think along the lines of two weeks. With “Empire” returning September 23 this show has to be over by the 16th, and there are four contestants who will hope to carry the day until then: Stephen, Nick, Derrick, and Claudia. All of them bring something to the table, and they are each going to have a role to play in one of the most intense final four challenges we’ve seen in a while.
Structurally, the promo suggested to us that there will be teams of two squaring off, and the winning team will probably be declared safe while the bottom two from the other team fight for safety. It looks like it’s between Derrick / Stephen and Nick / Claudia, which should be interesting. The first two guys are very intense but extremely passionate; the other two are a little more low-key, but they cook from the heart and create wonderful stuff.
At this given moment, we’d be silly to think that any of them could not be eliminated next week. We’ve thought for over a month now that Derrick, Stephen, and Claudia would be the final three, so we’re going to stick with that and say that Nick is probably next … but he really has turned it on over the final few weeks.
The exciting part about the competition the rest of the way is mostly that while you go home, there’s no reason to feel sorry for any of these people anymore. They’re all going to have a chance to do something in food if they work hard enough.
