‘Homeland’ season 5 trailer: How does Carrie get sucked back in?

HomelandWhen “Homeland” season 5 premieres on Showtime in early October, everything is going to be coming up roses for Carrie Mathison. After feeling hurt and betrayed at the end of season 4, she has found her way to claim out of the pit of despair, and has uncovered a rare form of happiness. She has a new job in the private sector in Berlin, she is raising her child, and she even has a new man in her life.

Unfortunately for her, we wouldn’t have another season of the show if everything ended like this for her. The trailer below makes it very clear that she is going to become connected to a data breach in Germany, which leads to Saul and by extension Quinn eventually getting involved. They will get a chance to see where Carrie is now, and some of the tension that was once between them (especially when it comes to Carrie and Saul) will probably start to explode out.

By the time we make it to the end of the season, the only thing that we can realistically expect at this point is for Carrie to be involved in a world that is every bit as dangerous as the one she remembers. The only different this time is that she seems more surrounded by cyber-crime, and the theme for this story may be more reminiscent of “Mr. Robot” than some of the early seasons of the show with Brody.

We cannot tell you whether or not season 5 will work, but it does feel like the show is on the right track to continue its comeback after a weak season 3.
