‘Dancing with the Stars’: Basketball star Anthony David ‘turned down’ role

dwtsDid “Dancing with the Stars” really ask New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis to be a part of their show at some point? This is a funny story that has surfaced on the internet today, and it is one that is certainly a little bit fun to explore. Let’s go ahead and start here with what Davis himself reportedly told TMZ:

“I’ve seen a couple of players on ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ or just athletes, not even NBA players … I actually got asked to do it, but I can’t dance, so I don’t want to embarrass myself … No, I can’t dance. I would never want to do nothing to embarrass myself. But sometimes, I’ll do something just to have fun.”

The funny thing about some of the reports out there regarding Davis turning down the show strictly revolve around the fact that even if he wanted to do the show, there really is not much of a way for him to be able to. Just remember here that the show tapes from September December and then from March until May, which are all during the NBA season. It seems almost silly that producers would even ask.

Basically, the only way that Davis would do something like this is if the show suddenly does a summer season and he has no other commitments (if he even wanted to), or if they wait a good 15 or so years until he is likely retired. That’s why most of the NBA stars on the show are ones not playing at the time in which they appear. For NFL stars, it is easier for them to appear in the spring during the offseason.
