What could a ‘Sleepy Hollow’ season 3, ‘Bones’ season 11 crossover look like?

Fox -There are surprises, and then there are ones so surprising that you think initially that they are some sort of April Fools’ joke. This is the category that this story falls into.

Earlier this week, it was confirmed through a TVLine report that “Sleepy Hollow” and “Bones” are going to be crossing over for an episode airing at some point later this upcoming season. This seems on the purpose to be completely illogical for a number of reasons, starting with the sole fact that they are very different shows. The biggest issue comes down to this: One is supernatural, and one is not. If this was a straightforward crossover, then you would have to think that “Bones” lives in a world where there are demons and evil spirits and a Headless Horseman.

We don’t think it would be that easy. Therefore. We’ve tried to come up with a few possible scenarios as to how this could work.

1. A dream sequence – Maybe Booth and Brennan envision themselves working on a case that is something that is more up Abbie and Ichabod’s alley. Therefore, they imagine them there, and “Bones” plays out a case as if it is in the “Sleepy Hollow” universe. Or, maybe Ichabod and Abbie envision themselves at the Jeffersonian.

2. Cheeky references only – Maybe Ichabod and Abbie present themselves to the Jeffersonian as normal people, and the “Bones” cast doesn’t know otherwise. We feel like so long as you don’t have Booth and Brennan fighting supernatural beings, the crossover works and nobody will be too freaked out by the realism of it all.

3. A ruse – Let’s say that for some reason, Booth and Brennan are called to Sleepy Hollow to solve a murder, Ichabod and Abbie find out there are outsiders in the town, and they help the investigation while at the same time covering up anything supernatural as to not give the secrets of the town away. This may be our favorite idea, mostly because it partially maintains the tone and spirit of both shows and creates a ton of comedy.
