‘Fear the Walking Dead’ visits the Santa Monica Pier for new Comic-Con poster

Poster -There are few better venues for promotion than San Diego Comic-Con, at least when you are talking about a genre show like “Fear the Walking Dead.” There is a reason why so many people are excited to see this show: It’s a prequel (at least right now) to one of the biggest shows in cable history, and you are also moving over to a Los Angeles setting after spending so many years in Atlanta.

In the new attached poster for the show, you can see that the zombie apocalypse has come to one of the most-iconic locations in the entire Los Angeles area: The famed Santa Monica Pier. We wish that the show would actually have a lot of footage from there, but that seems unlikely given we cannot imagine that shutting down this area for filming would be cheap. Still, it is at least nice to see the producers are taking advantage of their location in some way, rather than just giving us some sort of stock footage of the LA area coupled with a few zombies. We already know what Robert Kirkman can do with those.

What we are probably the most surprised about right now is the network not actually just going ahead and giving us a premiere date just yet for the six-episode season. We know that the earliest it would premiere is on August 9, given that this is when “Halt and Catch Fire” is over on AMC. However, they could wait until later in the month if they wanted to bring this show directly up to the premiere of “The Walking Dead” proper in October.

One way or another, we figure that there will be some further news soon.
