Donald Trump ‘giving up The Apprentice’ for Presidential campaign (video)

Donald Trump -It’s Sunday, and for those who follow politics this means one thing above all else: An opportunity to see a variety of people speak out on early-morning talk shows about their campaign.

For the most part, we’re not one to really report on many of these … but then again, many of these do not feature Donald Trump. We’re not too interested in covering the political aspect of things, but we do find it interesting that he told CNN’s Jake Tapper in an interview airing today that he “gave up” on having “The Apprentice” and other opportunities in order to run for President. He then also stated that NBC probably die not want him to be running for office, and given all the recent controversy regarding the Miss USA pageant, there are probably multiple reasons why they feel this particular way at the moment.

For the time being, NBC still has not stated anything in regards to pulling the pageant from the airwaves, which is something that Univision has already done, and Trump is threatening to sue them for. It is set to air from Baton Rouge, Louisiana on July 12.

As for the future of “The Apprentice,” it is interesting to see what Trump is saying here given that we do feel that there is a certain potential for the show to move on without him. Maybe you have someone else in his family star in it, but we even feel like that is somewhat unlikely given that it would still put NBC in a tricky place in terms of giving candidates fair time. We would not be shocked if a year or so down the road, they tried to find another big business personality. We’re not sure it would work, mostly because Trump is the perfect figurehead for the ridiculous machine that is this franchise.
