‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5 spoilers: Now casting Rumpelstiltskin’s mother

Once -We’ve known for some time that “Once Upon a Time” does love expanding the show family tree as often as they possibly can, so can you really be too shocked to here that they are finally giving us more of a taste of where Rumpelstiltskin came from?

According to TVLine, the series is casting at present the role of Evanna, the mother to Robert Carlyle’s character and at least a fairly noble person. She has a sort of self-confidence that inspires her, and the worst thing that she is at times is a little bit impulsive. We do not know much about her through the lens of the show, but producers are casting someone who can pull off a Scottish accent for the part.

Of course, part of the curiosity here revolves around how this character will be featured. Given how old Rumple is, we presume that it would be flashbacks only, but stranger things have happened on this series than having someone turn up on the show who has not really aged.

This casting news furthers along a series of interesting ones that we’ve heard about over the past couple of weeks. We’ve learned already that the show is looking to bring in King Arthur as well as Guinevere and Merlin, and that both Sean Maguire (Robin Hood) and Rebecca Mader (Zelena) have been promoted to series regular. Meanwhile, Michael Socha (Will) is no longer going to be one after having a little bit of an odd year on the show.

As always, feel free to step into the role of casting agent! Let us know below who you most want to see play the part of Evanna in the comments, and head over here in the event you want to have some other TV magic sent to you every week via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: ABC.)
