‘Downton Abbey’ season 6 star Joanne Froggatt undergoing dark turn for new project

The latest -After spending many years on an iconic show, it is often commonplace for many actors to want to try something different. However, few get the unique opportunity that Joanne Froggatt has to do a complete 180.

You best know Froggatt for playing the often-sweet and caring Anna on “Downton Abbey,” and while she has gone through many hard times on the ITV series, the majority of them have not been of her own doing. Moving forward, however, we are going to see the actress take on someone far more sinister. Sources have confirmed that Froggatt is set to star in a two-part ITV miniseries “Dark Angel” playing Mary Ann Cotton, an infamous serial killer from the Victorian era who poisoned the majority of her victims, and would often travel the countryside undetected.

This is obviously a chance for her to tackle some brilliant material, but in some ways this will be an extremely difficult role. Will we ever be able to look at Anna the same way again? Time will tell when it comes to that one.

In the end, we imagine that a variety of the “Downton Abbey” cast are going to take part in a whole array of different projects once the show is officially complete. For some of them, they may find more TV projects in Britain and America. Meanwhile, there are others who may opt for feature films. It will be interesting to see where many of these careers go over the course of the months and even years ahead. The answers will not make themselves clear immediately.
