‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 7: Ian Somerhalder on Damon’s re-transformation

Damon -We have seen Damon Salvatore the bad boy, just as we have also seen Damon Salvatore the lover and the good brother. However, we don’t imagine that he is going to be altogether pleased about losing someone he considers to be the love of his life in Elena. It doesn’t seem like he will be doing anything drastic to Bonnie in order to bring her back, and with all of these emotions become almost an inner tsunami, you better be prepared for an angrier, edgier version of the character than we’ve seen on “The Vampire Diaries” when season 7 picks up this fall.

As for what Ian Somerhalder really thinks about this twist, for the time being he is pretty excited. Speaking in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly after tonight’s finale, he explained that he is excited to revert in some ways back to the Damon we saw in early seasons, which is in many ways the Damon that fans first adored:

“That’s what I’m very excited about … Season 1 and 2 of the show is where people fell in love with this guy; it’s where I fell in love with this guy. The story is just going to change form and I think that we get to go back to this really awesome dark, edgy, volatile [story]—all the s–t that we all love.”

In a way, we wonder if the show is about to become a little bit closer now to “The Originals,” which is a show ironically born out of it that has been at times much more brutal and not afraid to go in dark directions.

We still do not know whether or not season 7 will be the last for the show, but for now you can head over here to vote on if it should be. Also, sign up here to get some other TV news sent over to you via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: The CW.)
