‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 7 debate: Should it be last for Ian Somerhalder, cast?

The latest -Unless you have been living either other a rock or in a coffin the past month, then you know that tonight’s “Vampire Diaries” is not anywhere close to the same as some of the ones that came before it. It happens to be the last for star Nina Dobrev, who is concluding a six-season journey with what is probably going to be an emotional hour for anyone who likes the Elena character.

Now that we’ve said that, we turn to the next chapter of the tale: What happens next? There are at least going to be 22 episodes coming next season without Dobrev in them, which means that suddenly Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley are going to be the anchors of the show. We suppose that we will have some time after the episode airs tonight to figure out whether or not these will be the last episodes of the entire series, and for now, the major question that you should be wondering is whether or not this season will be the last for the show.

The case to end it is simple enough: Shows become more and more expensive to make as time passes, and while Nina will be off the payroll, you still have to pay everyone else. There is also the great unknown factor that goes with relaunching a show, and the ratings have been declining as-is. The biggest thing to hope for is a premiere this fall that is so fantastic, it finds a way to continue to hook people in.

If the numbers hold and it does feel like the show is staying strong creatively, we imagine that a season 8 renewal is possible. For now, we just want to know in the attached poll.
