‘Dancing with the Stars’ 20 review: Noah Galloway, Riker Lynch, Nastia Liukin battle to make finale

DWTS -Tonight, the four remaining contestants on “Dancing with the Stars” are giving one more performance in an attempt to impress America, and the three will get a chance to make it to the finale to do the infamous freestyle and all other good stuff.

The biggest surprise that we got of the night actually came at the very beginning of the show, where host Tom Bergeron made it clear that all of the remaining dancers have topped the leaderboard at least once this season. When you remember that this is combining viewer votes and scores from the judges, this helps us to realize just how popular Noah Galloway must be when it comes to the vote.

Rumer Willis and Val Chmerkovskiy, Viennese waltz – It shouldn’t be too big of a shock to anyone that there are big scores to open the night. This was a powerful, well-acted dance, even if was a little light on actual waltz content. Score: 38.

Noah Galloway and Allison Holker, Viennese waltz – We expect this to be the trend tonight: Noah to get very good scores, but lower than the other three stars left. He’s a good dancer! He’s just not at the same technical level as the others. Score: 36.

Riker Lynch and Allison Holker, contemporary – Sure, Riker doesn’t have the same sad story as some of the other stars when introducing the dance, but it was lyrical, sensual, and everything else you want in a contemporary. Easily the best of the night. Score: 40.

Nastia Liukin and Sasha Farber, quickstep – This was fun! We’re not entirely sure that it was as good fundamentally as Riker’s, but we do consider this to be the part of the competition where everyone does get at least close to perfect scores. Derek’s apparently going to try to give it a go later. Score: 40.

We thought at first that we were going to go all in-depth on the final part of the episode, but what’s the point when the judges are just going to ahead and plant perfect scores on almost everyone? It really doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, given that nobody on the panel showed any real interest in giving each other actual feedback / criticism. Heck, Julianne was in one of the routines! We’d still say that Riker won the night overall and Noah should leave, but that is far from confirmed.
