NBC’s ‘The Voice’ rankings: Sawyer Fredericks challenged by Meghan Linsey, Koryn Hawthorne

The Voice -How did we get here, to a final five of “The Voice” that does not include Kimberly Nichole? We really still have no idea, given that she one consistently one of the best performers that the show has seen this season. While she wasn’t a favorite to win (that one should be pretty obvious), we did feel like she had one of the best chances out there potentially to challenge the inevitable reign of Sawyer Fredericks.

Now, our contestant rankings for the upcoming week’s show look at least a little bit different. The overall trajectory is the same, but we do feel like a couple of contestants are starting to move a little in the right direction. As per usual, performance quality, coach popularity, and past history (YouTube views, iTunes sales) are a part of the criteria by which we judge these artists.

5. India Carney – She has been in the bottom now, and while winning the Save is an achievement, not having to compete for it is an even bigger one. Given that this is Christina Aguilera’s only contestant left and she has yet to win a season, let’s hope that these two figure out some excellent songs for her to perform that could bring her to the next level.

4. Joshua Davis – We do have to worry thanks mostly to him also being in danger of going home. With him, it really is all about song choice since he doesn’t have the same vocal power as the remaining women. He has rebounded nicely from being in danger so far, but he’s got a tough mountain to climb here.

3. Koryn Hawthorne – While she’s been somewhat inconsistent, when Koryn is on, she is on. She has delivered some of the best performances the past few weeks, and risen up our chart accordingly. We still worry about if she can take down the two behemoths at the top of this chart, but she could at least make things interesting.

2. Meghan Linsey – Even before “Amazing Grace” made a killing on iTunes, we knew that Meghan had a chance to at least contend for the title at the end of the season. The thing to remember with Blake Shelton artists is that they tend to get more organic votes (i.e. ones via the phone or the internet) than the artists of any other coach. Blake’s just got that loyal of an American following! This is why you really cannot write her off as a contender yet.

1. Sawyer Fredericks – Still, we’re going with the guy for now who has been in the iTunes top 10 every week since the start of the top 12. It’s hard to envision, barring a disaster, a situation where Sawyer does not win this for Team Pharrell at the moment. Even though he does have that obvious “favorite” status, he has simultaneously figured out how to remain humble and still someone with an underdog spirit. That is not an easy thing to pull off.
