‘The Bastard Executioner’ spoilers: First look at Katey Sagal!
If you follow the prolific Kurt Sutter on social media, then you most likely know already that he is hard at work bringing his next great series to the air in “The Bastard Executioner.” He is following “Sons of Anarchy,” so he obviously knows that there are high expectations for this to be thrilling, action-packed, and more or less everything that the great FX drama was.
While it is still far too early to get anything official in video form (the pilot recently wrapped filming), Sutter has at least been kind enough to share a first look at two of the characters who are going to be featured on the series: Katey Sagal as Annora and Sarah White as Isabel. Sutter jokes in the Instagram photo below that this is “nepotism at its finest”; most fans know already that Sagal is his wife, and White is Sagal’s daughter. Sutter himself also acts in the series; while it would be easy to claim that he making the TV version of a family band here, he has proven himself to be worthy of trust in such matters, casting a variety of unexpected people to great success on “Sons of Anarchy.” We already know that Sagal is fantastic, and White may have some of that natural talent, as well.
It is still far too early to project a premiere date on this series, even if we have every bit of confidence in its future thanks to the reputation. It is a series that FX could also use given the end of both the motorcycle drama and “Justified.”
