‘Once Upon a Time’ season 4, episode 16 preview: Snow and Charming’s dark vision

Snow White and Prince Charming want the best for Emma Swan, but what are they willing to do to make sure that she does not become a villain? This will be the theme of Sunday night’s new “Once Upon a Time” episode, and we have the video proof of just that.

In this sneak peek, you can see Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas’ characters stumble upon a unicorn, and use it to get two different glimpses into what might lie ahead. For Charming, he sees a happy, healthy baby who has nothing to worry about. However, Snow sees an older but still teenage Emma who is certainly surrounded with darkness, even to the point that she crushes her heart. This is not exactly the easiest thing in the world to behold.

By the end of this episode, we imagine that Snow’s own paranoia about what her own daughter could become could drive her to do something pretty terrible, or at least get her into a terrible place. What she has to realize here is that sooner or later, she has to pay the piper for some of the mistakes that she has made. Those include deciding to take the happiness away from someone else (i.e. Maleficent) just so that she can have some herself.

Could lies be what turn Emma to the dark side? It’s certainly possible, given that heroes and villains have been set up to be one of the major themes of this entire season. We’d also comment that destiny happens to be just as much on the list.
