‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Dwayne Johnson, Bobby Moynihan prepare you for show’s return

SNL -It is more than understandable that “Saturday Night Live” would need to take at least a little bit of a breather. After all, just consider all of the variables here! This is a series that did some crazy and awesome things throughout the month of February. After all, the show aired its big 40th anniversary special, and then had some other live programs to go along with it. It’s been a good wait, but we are ready to have the series back in action.

So what can you expect to see on the NBC series when it is back this weekend? Hopefully, it will be a not-so-rocky show hosted by Dwayne Johnson. The wrestler / actor is coming back to the famous studio for his fourth turn as host, but his first in several years. Luckily, it doesn’t feel like there is any rust at all in the promo. He still has the charisma, and the willingness to poke fun at himself and the public perception of him. Given that Bobby Moynihan does this on a regular basis, this makes him a perfect partner.

Now that we’ve said all of this, we do wish that there were some slightly more creative jokes to go along with having Johnson in this promo. Most of the gags in here you can see coming miles away; hopefully this is an indication that the show is spend more time focusing on some sketches for Saturday rather than this. If that show is great, then all is forgiven.

The musical guest for this weekend is George Ezra. Odds are, you’ve never heard of him.
